Croydon Council is opposing proposals in the draft London Plan that could see 5,600 new homes built on Green Belt land, alongside almost 16,000 homes planned for brownfield sites.
Executive Mayor Jason Perry argues that existing brownfield sites should be prioritised while raising concerns about the permanent loss of green space and whether local transport and infrastructure could support significant new development.
