The Elected Mayor of Croydon

Jason Perry was elected as Croydon’s first executive Mayor on 5 May 2022.

A long-time South Croydon resident, Jason has served the local community through Croydon Council since 1994, when he was first elected as Conservative Councillor for Coulsdon East Ward. Raised on a council estate in Hamsey Green, he attended local Croydon schools before graduating with an Honours degree in History from the University of London. He later represented the Croham ward from 2002 to 2018, which subsequently became South Croydon.

Throughout his years in local government, Jason has held a number of senior roles, including Chair of the Licensing Committee, Vice-Chair of both the Strategic Planning Committee and Planning Committee, and Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration between 2008 and 2014.

Away from politics, Jason is a married father of two and Managing Director of a local trade supply company. He remains closely connected to the borough through his involvement in the South Croydon Business Association, Croydon’s Church Tenements, and as a lifelong supporter of Crystal Palace Football Club.

Jason is a strong advocate for Croydon and is passionate about making the borough a better place to live, work, and invest in. He also has a keen interest in Croydon’s local history.

As Mayor, he has committed to improving the council’s financial management and transforming the way the organisation operates for residents.
